This was the first Looney Tunes cartoon. The emphasis was on music over plot, hence the name Looney Tunes. The brand was intended to compete with Disney's Silly Symphonies.
The character of Bosko would eventually be replaced by other characters.
Warner Bros. also created a side brand called Merrie Melodies, which eventually became synonymous with Looney Tunes.
