Foundation, Raised by Wolves, and even the new Dune movie which just covers part 1 of the first Dune novel, are all serial. They all involve war between different factions. As such, they feel like science-fiction soap operas, although pretty good ones. Perhaps they were inspired by "Game of Thrones" which was hugely successful as a series. Raised by Wolves is particularly adept at ending every episode on a cliffhanger, making you want to immediately watch the next episode. However, Foundation is also good at this.
I get a sense of deja-vu while watching these. They all hit the same notes. I wonder what is really different between them? Mostly the character names and the background stories. Otherwise, it is the same struggle.
