LOST

There is an article on Facebook listing TV shows with terrible endings, one of which is "LOST."  This led to some discussion.

John Coffey: The ending of LOST was brilliant. The problem is that people didn't understand it.

Charles Brilliant I still don't.

John Coffey:

It is a matter of understanding the timeline. A few escape the island. They go back. They stop fake-Locke (Flocke) and save the world. Jack gets killed along with Sun and Kim. Almost everybody escapes from the island, with the exception of a couple who chose to stay behind. Hurley is now the new caretaker.

A long time later, after everyone has died, they are all in Limbo together. This is what the "flash-sideways" is all about. Because they were the most important people to each other, they act out portions of their lives as a way of letting go of their mortal existence. They don't realize that they are in limbo until each person one by one has an epiphany. Jack is the last one to have an epiphany because he stubbornly hangs onto his mortal existence. Once everybody realizes where they are, they are all ready to "move on", except for poor Benjamin Linus who has some soul searching to do.
